DELIVERY PROCESS

photo

On collection, the driver signs the waybill.

photo

On handover, a unique waybill number is assigned to the parcel.

photo

These details are logged into the track and trace system via a handheld palm pilot.

photo

At the hub, these details are transferred to a thermal label which is attached to the parcel.

photo

Scanning the parcel - when it arrives or leaves - allows our control room staff to track it.

photo

Smaller parcels are sealed in unique, tamper-proof envelopes.

photo

These envelopes - along with larger parcels - are placed in sealed, secure containers.

photo

Container is logged with the airline and a pre-alert notification is sent to the receiving branch.

photo

The receiving branch collects the parcel from the airport and logs it into the hub.

photo

All container seals are checked for tampering.

photo

Individual parcels are scanned out of the hub prior to delivery.

photo

On delivery, the parcel is scanned to confirm that it has been received by the addressee.

A super model to fight illiteracy
The Minki Book Project aims to combat national illiteracy levels by ensuring that every child in South Africa is given a book to read, and RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers™ has just renewed our partnership with the project.

You and Huisgenoot magazines, together with online retailer Kalahari.net, have pledged to top the 50,000 books collected in 2005. The books will be made available to disadvantaged communities that don’t have the wherewithal to buy books. RAM has undertaken to collect all the books that are donated by the public, schools and publishers, and deliver them to needy schools across the country.

South African supermodel and patron of the project, Minki van der Westhuizen, is passionate about children and literacy. “Last year I had the privilege to visit various schools and donate much-needed books to the children,” she says. “I’ll never forget the expression on their faces when they received their books. I’m more passionate than ever about the project.”
