DELIVERY PROCESS

photo

On collection, the driver signs the waybill.

photo

On handover, a unique waybill number is assigned to the parcel.

photo

These details are logged into the track and trace system via a handheld palm pilot.

photo

At the hub, these details are transferred to a thermal label which is attached to the parcel.

photo

Scanning the parcel - when it arrives or leaves - allows our control room staff to track it.

photo

Smaller parcels are sealed in unique, tamper-proof envelopes.

photo

These envelopes - along with larger parcels - are placed in sealed, secure containers.

photo

Container is logged with the airline and a pre-alert notification is sent to the receiving branch.

photo

The receiving branch collects the parcel from the airport and logs it into the hub.

photo

All container seals are checked for tampering.

photo

Individual parcels are scanned out of the hub prior to delivery.

photo

On delivery, the parcel is scanned to confirm that it has been received by the addressee.

An experienced hand and inspirational mind heads up RAM Durban
Mohammed Nizamie had his sights set on a career as an electrical engineer. However, after successfully completing his first year of studies, Mohammed met Lee Cuthbert, UK based Regional Manager of TNT International who inspired Mohammed to consider a career in freight and logistics. Mohammed researched the local industry and when realising that there was a shortage of skills in the freight industry, he shifted his career direction and took up a position with TNT. Within a short period, Mohammed was promoted to head of TNT’s operational hub in Pietermaritzburg.

Mohammed then relocated to Durban and moved into customer service where he excelled in a number of courier disciplines. He was then approached by UPS where he took up a position to further broaden his expertise in systems knowledge, and was soon promoted to head of the operational hub for Durban and moved into sales. Here by year-end, Mohammed was rated number one in sales in Africa and after UPS was sold to Fritz Company, he moved to Unitrans freight to start ARAMEX Durban – a Jordanian owned international freight company. After successfully establishing ARAMEX and a new entity with African Express for Unitrans, Mohammed left to take up the position as Durban Branch Manager of RAM.

Mohammed has exciting plans for RAM Durban, “I intend motivating all employees of RAM Durban to be outstanding achievers and to work as a team to meet international standards”, he explains. Mohammed firmly believes in “sustaining the core and creating the future” and intends achieving this through continued training and motivation.

Through his extensive experience in the world of couriers and logistics, Mohammed believes that, “employing the best people in a first class working environment and offering them support and ongoing training, coupled with an unfailing ethic to work hard and promote clear and honest communication at all levels, is vital to offering a quality courier service. RAM Durban will deliver a service that will not only meet clients’ expectations, but will deliver beyond those expectations,” he adds. Mohammed has been with RAM for little over a month and is very impressed that RAM, a SA family-owned business is recognised as a successful global brand and has become a reputable and respected courier business in a very short period of time.

On a personal level, Mohammed is motivated by his own personal philosophy: to do at least one good deed a day and to make a least one person smile each and every day.

A family man, Mohammed spends any free time he has with his wife and two sons.

Mohammed loves fishing, collecting model cars and is a BIG Grand Prix fan.
