On collection, the driver signs the waybill.
On handover, a unique waybill number is assigned to the parcel.
These details are logged into the track and trace system via a handheld palm pilot.
At the hub, these details are transferred to a thermal label which is attached to the parcel.
Scanning the parcel - when it arrives or leaves - allows our control room staff to track it.
Smaller parcels are sealed in unique, tamper-proof envelopes.
These envelopes - along with larger parcels - are placed in sealed, secure containers.
Container is logged with the airline and a pre-alert notification is sent to the receiving branch.
The receiving branch collects the parcel from the airport and logs it into the hub.
All container seals are checked for tampering.
Individual parcels are scanned out of the hub prior to delivery.
On delivery, the parcel is scanned to confirm that it has been received by the addressee.

Pretoria: The new hub on the block

New Pretoria Branch Manager Daniel Suffield discusses joining RAM and the challenges of establishing a new hub.
RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers™ Pretoria opened its doors in mid-April 2006. Daniel Suffield, previously Operations Manager with MPS Express Services, is tasked with getting the branch up and running. Daniel has a wealth of experience in imports, domestic courier and heavy haulage, and believes that to deliver a quality courier service, it’s essential to maintain open and honest communication between both clients and employees. He wants to ensure that every department is working perfectly and that the hub’s 40 staff members perform to the best of their ability. Daniel believes that RAM is an industry leader because, no matter how big or small the client, our service requests are met and delivered on time, every time. He says his immediate challenge is to make sure that the Pretoria hub grows to be as successful as all the other RAM hubs. “I believe that our clients experience a more personal service than they do with other couriers,” says Daniel. “RAM parcels are not just delivered to the door, but into the recipient’s hands. With the local courier industry being so competitive, it’s imperative that we offer a premium service and make certain that delivery is optimal. This will be our key driver in ensuring that the Pretoria hub thrives.” On a personal level, Daniel spends his free time with his fiancée and baby girl, Abigail. Daniel is a keen footballer and enjoys movies and socialising. RAM wishes Daniel every success in his new position and welcomes Pretoria to the Group. |
