On collection, the driver signs the waybill.
On handover, a unique waybill number is assigned to the parcel.
These details are logged into the track and trace system via a handheld palm pilot.
At the hub, these details are transferred to a thermal label which is attached to the parcel.
Scanning the parcel - when it arrives or leaves - allows our control room staff to track it.
Smaller parcels are sealed in unique, tamper-proof envelopes.
These envelopes - along with larger parcels - are placed in sealed, secure containers.
Container is logged with the airline and a pre-alert notification is sent to the receiving branch.
The receiving branch collects the parcel from the airport and logs it into the hub.
All container seals are checked for tampering.
Individual parcels are scanned out of the hub prior to delivery.
On delivery, the parcel is scanned to confirm that it has been received by the addressee.

RAM boosts Alex’s entrepreneurial spirit

RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers™ partnered Discovery in their “Star Awards” programme by sponsoring the purchase of a popcorn machine and creating a practical and sustainable opportunity for an aspirant entrepreneur in Alexander– a township where 70% of the population is unemployed.
After a rigorous search, the popcorn machine was awarded to 31 year-old Bongani who as an orphaned child was cared for by the Noah’s Ark programme. While Bongani has few skills, he has plenty of enthusiasm. RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers™ was approached to sponsor the purchase of the popcorn machine. Joint Managing Director of RAM, David Lazarus was touched by Bongani’s story and agreed to sponsor the machine. “RAM understands the importance and need to provide unemployed individuals with the means to develop their entrepreneurial spirit. We thank Discovery for affording us the opportunity to become involved in this worthwhile programme,” said David Lazarus. “I am sure that Bongani will embrace this opportunity and that the popcorn machine will be the start of a thriving business for him,” added David Lazarus. Bongani, ecstatic that RAM was willing to make his dream a reality, grinned when he received his popcorn machine and RAM branded apron on 8 September 2005. After an intense lesson on how the machine works, Bongani’s hot popcorn was popping. The air, filled with the tantalising aroma of fresh popcorn, had local Alex residents lining up, making Bongani’s popcorn an instant hit. |
