On collection, the driver signs the waybill.
On handover, a unique waybill number is assigned to the parcel.
These details are logged into the track and trace system via a handheld palm pilot.
At the hub, these details are transferred to a thermal label which is attached to the parcel.
Scanning the parcel - when it arrives or leaves - allows our control room staff to track it.
Smaller parcels are sealed in unique, tamper-proof envelopes.
These envelopes - along with larger parcels - are placed in sealed, secure containers.
Container is logged with the airline and a pre-alert notification is sent to the receiving branch.
The receiving branch collects the parcel from the airport and logs it into the hub.
All container seals are checked for tampering.
Individual parcels are scanned out of the hub prior to delivery.
On delivery, the parcel is scanned to confirm that it has been received by the addressee.

RAM’s piece scoops Shining Light Award

RAM backs a winner in the 2006/07 Diamond Trading Company Shining Light Awards, held annually to recognise excellence in diamond jewellery design.
Deirdre Botes was announced one of this year’s winners by an international panel of judges who received 880 designs from across South Africa. The manufacture of Deirdre’s piece, a filigree diamond cuff with 544 diamonds, was made possible by RAM. Deirdre’s piece was chosen for its ingenuity and design, as well as its ability to capture the magic and allure of diamonds. Twenty-one year old Deidre studies at the Tshwane University of Technology. Since seeing her brothers, both goldsmiths, working at the bench she has been passionate about designing, but believes that a good designer needs an even better understanding of the manufacturing process. It was a dream come true when RAM made her design a reality. The Diamond Trading Company launched the Shining Light Awards in 1996, with the aim of providing support for the future of the South African jewellery industry by helping develop both the technical and design skills of young South African designers. “RAM is proud to be associated with this prestigious competition and we thank the Diamond Trading Company for offering us the opportunity to promote local jewellery design by supporting talented young designers,” says David Lazarus, RAM’s Joint MD. |
