Wage increases motivate employees
This letter was received from Union shop stewards, expressing the gratitude of employees after learning that RAM has increased minimum wages. We’re acutely aware of the spiralling cost of living that’s affecting all South Africans, especially minimum wage earners who rely on their monthly wage to care for their families. The recent increases in petrol and food prices have affected all of us. Our Executive Board reviewed the government-prescribed minimum wage for drivers and general workers, and found that it is not enough to cover the bare necessities. Based on this, it was decided to increase our minimum wage to above the prescribed minimum. “The increased minimum wage has been very well received by our employees,” says Financial Director Ian Freeman. “It has also had a very positive effect on our business. We now have a happier, more motivated workforce that’s committed to the company and to our clients.”
Business Soccer League On 29 March the team arrived at the Cresslawn Primary School grounds in Spartan. They were kitted out in their all- new RAM-sponsored red-and-white-striped soccer gear, ready to fight for a win. The game was intense and exciting, and in the end we were victorious with a convincing 3-1 win. The goals were scored by David Dlamini, Tebogo Molotlhanye and Lifa Mashego, who also walked away with the Man of the Match title. Player and Team Manager David Dlamini says, “We are so happy that we won this important game. Our win has motivated us to keep practicing to improve our position on the log. We are currently in third place and have another eight games ahead of us.” David continues, “We’ve worked hard to get to where we are, but we realise that to reach the top of the log we have to remain focused and committed. We would like to thank David and Graeme Lazarus, as well as Ian Freeman, for their generous support.” |
